PAINTINGS IN OIL/ACRYLICS ON PATTERN FABRIC

The paintings in this collection explore contrasting elements found in cyberspace and the natural environment.
Using my own photos of landscapes as a point of reference, I applied paint directly onto geometric print fabric, bought from local markets in Oman. The geometric pattern on the top acted as a guide for colour and brushwork. The pattern was sometimes utilised as a grid in the markmaking process, emphasising technology and cyberspace, and sometimes dismissed or deconstructed through organic brushstrokes. By applying planes of flat and glowing colours in between organic landscape scenery, I aimed to create dreamworlds that shared an ambiguous perspective.
